At the first communications report at 0600 hours on the 16th July Mir, Russia (whose crew are pictured at the Crew Parade) was leading on the water doing an amazing average of 14.8 knots and the three Norwegian square riggers Sorlandet, Statsraad Lehmkuhl and Chrisitan Radich plus Georg Stage, Denmark are having a very close and epic race.
In Class A on corrected time, Christian Radich is 1st in class and 1st overall, Statsraad Lehmkuhl is 2nd and 2nd overall and Shtandart is 3rd in class and 3rd overall.
In Class B on corrected time Jens Krogh, Denmark is 1st in Class and 10th overall, Aglaia, Austria is 2nd in class and 13th overall and Constantia, Sweden is 3rd in class and 15th overall.
In Class C on corrected time, Dar Szczecina, Poland is 1st in class and 20th overall, Zvezda, Russia is 2nd in class and 26th overall and Black Diamond of Durham, UK is 3rd in class and 28th overall.
Finally, in Class D on corrected time, Polarrev is 1st in class and 27th overall, Miles to Go, Belgium is 2nd in class and 37th overall and Hebe III, Czech Republic is 3rd in Class and 46th overall.
